Membership and Dues 2026
At the general meeting in April 2025, the annual membership fee was set at 113 euros for those paying via invoice. Members who authorize NIBI to collect the fee through direct debit receive an 8-euro discount, bringing their fee to 105 euros. Through their membership fees, members contribute to the realization of all of NIBI’s objectives. In line with the organization’s statutory goals, NIBI members may also choose to receive Bionieuws, the professional journal for biologists. Students pay 25 euros per year up to and including the year in which they turn 26 (provided they pay by direct debit; otherwise, the fee is 33 euros); thereafter, the standard membership rate applies.
Rates 2026
- Membership fees: € 113 (for payment via invoice), € 105 (for payment by direct debit)
- If you become a member during the year, you will receive a discount for the number of days that have already passed, and you will only pay a portion of the membership fee. From October 1st onwards, your membership is free of charge, and your payment will count toward the following year.
- For students up to and including the age of 26: €25 (only via direct debit); otherwise, €33.
- Housemates (the second member at the same address; 1 copy of Bionieuws per address): € 25.

Shipping Bionieuws abroad incurs an additional charge of €30 (to cover extra postage costs). There is no surcharge when using the Bionieuws app.
Students pay €25 up to and including the year in which they turn 26, provided that their year of birth is stated and a direct debit authorization has been correctly provided.
Membership fee via direct debit
If you have received an invoice but would prefer to pay via direct debit, that is certainly possible—in fact, we encourage it! First of all, please do NOT pay the invoice; instead, email your IBAN and bank details to info@nibi.nl, and Claudia will set up the direct debit authorization for you. For members living abroad, a 30-euro surcharge remains in place to cover additional shipping costs.
Staff membership
A group membership—convenient for an entire biology department—is available for three or more participants from the same organization. Each participant becomes an individual member of NIBI, while the invoice is sent to the school, company, or institution. The collective membership fee is 87.50 euros per person per year, which can be claimed as a professional development expense. Please email Claudia Bakker-Müller (info@nibi.nl) to set up a departmental or corporate membership. Should an individual leave the organization or department, their membership will continue on an individual basis (unless otherwise notified).
Bionieuws subscription
Bionieuws is available only to NIBI members.
Cancellation
Cancellations must be submitted before November 1st of the current calendar year. We prefer that cancellations be sent via email. Please include your full address details and, if possible, your registration number. We would also appreciate knowing the reason for your cancellation; this can help us improve the association’s efforts to promote the field of biology.
